What Tax Bracket Am I In? 2026 Federal & State
Your "tax bracket" is the rate that applies to your last dollar of income (marginal rate). The US uses progressive brackets: different portions of income are taxed at different rates. Here’s how to see your 2026 federal (and state) bracket and your actual tax.
2026 Federal Tax Brackets (Single)
- 10% on income up to $12,400
- 12% on income $12,401–$50,400
- 22% on income $50,401–$105,700
- 24% on income $105,701–$201,775
- 32% on income $201,776–$256,225
- 35% on income $256,226–$640,600
- 37% on income over $640,600
Married filing jointly brackets are roughly double these amounts.
State Tax Brackets
Most states have their own brackets; nine states have no income tax on wages. Your combined marginal rate (federal + state) is what matters for extra income or deductions.
